More information
Just got off the phone Today, Sunday, 11/30/08 with Rufus we had a long talk
about the good old days at the shop. And as the frame goes he purchased as a
frame only (New),Mario Confente built completebicycles or frames only.you could
order either way, bike or frame . Rufus
paid $2000.00 for
the frame, and took and had Gian Simonetti at the Masi factory repaint it. only
because he did not like the blue color, Rufus took over 4 years or more to
complete this in his own way . I know because I sold him a lot of the panograph
parts and the nos 1975 S.R. Campagnolo delailuers and hi lo hubs. This bike was
put together as "Sunday Coffee shop ride" bike. It was never raced or ridden
hard. The size stamped on BB lug is 61 (frame size) and serial #64 above stamped
also on BB spread apart. Going to post more pictures. Original owner from
Beverly Hills wants to be kept anonymous. May have paper work; as a brochure if
can he find. He said in a box somewhere, and old customer from old "CARNEVALE'S
Bike Rack" in Huntington Beach CA. Hope you get a chance to pick this one up it
a very rare bicycle as you know.
a
quote from Rufus:
"For
those of you who don't understand this is probably thee only chance to own
or ride a piece of Art History
in
my opinion Confente is greatest frame maker that ever took a torch
to build bicycle frame!!!
I
would defy any one to copy this magnificent work. Over the many years I've owned
this bike I have sat for many hours looking at the bicycle from ever angle; the
beauty in precision in Mario Confente's work is absolutely is
spiritual experience to me, only God can give someone this amount of talent."

New news 12/3/08
Just got of the phone
With
Jim Cunningham, real nice man of Cyclarts in San Diego CA .He worked with Mario
at his Boyle Heights shop when this bike was built. He painted it the first
time.
The frame number and serial number were stamped at the same time and should be
in the same orientation. My interpretation has the serial number
upside down.
He has the original build card and sale receipts and correspondence in hand for
this Bicycle. Going through the cards it is clearly #39 which was 61CM delivered
to LA man in the color blue.
#39
Thanks for bringing it to are
