This is a Wade & Butcher wedge straight razor that was made in Sheffield, England sometime in the early 1800's. By the manufacture style and shape, I estimate it to be in the very early 1800's. It is in excellent condition with no pitting, rust, discoloration or staining. The spine sides are uneven which further attests to an early age, this has absolutely no effect on the quality of this razor which has a wide, very heavy 13/16 wedge shaped, spike pointed blade. This blade appears to have had very little prior use. It opens and closes snug and smooth on the pivot pin and well centered between the handles. The lovely bone handles have a nice lusterious shiny sheen and are in defect and blemish free condition. The blade and handles of this razor have been cleaned, sterilized and restored throughout, even in the pivot pin area under the handles, which is in absolutely clean, like new condition. Providing a nice clean, close and velvity smooth shave, this recently honed and shave tested razor comes shave ready.
